Coffee Beans

Coffee beans originated in Ethiopia. According to legend, a ninth-century goat herder named Kaldi discovered coffee. He noticed that after eating the berries from a certain tree, his goats became so energetic that they did not want to sleep at night!

In the late fifteenth century, coffee houses were established and quickly became important centres for the exchange of information. They were often referred to as "Schools of the Wise." Those who drank coffee began the day alert and energised, and, not surprisingly, the quality of their work greatly improved.

What spiritual lessons can we draw from this?

Transformation

When coffee beans come into contact with hot water, everything changes. The water takes on the aroma, taste and colour of the coffee. It becomes a beverage that has influenced every culture on the planet. In the same way, we can help transform the culture around us. Let the aroma, taste and colour of our lives positively influence those around us. Let us impact our cities and our nations. Let us bring transformation.

Wisdom

Proverbs 3:13-14: "Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold.”

When our minds are alert and our hearts are attentive to God, we are better able to receive His wisdom. Let our churches become centres where God's wisdom is shared, bringing forth His supernatural insight in a way that will leave people in awe.

Renewed Strength

Just as coffee awakens the body, an encounter with God's presence awakens the spirit.

God wants to give us renewed energy – to invigorate, strengthen and refresh us. As we encounter God, the quality of our work can improve. Let us not be idle, but begin each day with renewed energy from encountering the

living God. Then we can step into our day refreshed and ready, working from a place of alertness, joy and contentment.

Ecclesiastes 3:12–13 "So I conclude that, first, there is nothing better for a man than to be happy and to enjoy himself as long as he can; and second, that he should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of his labours, for these are gifts from God."
